Yellow September: raising awareness for mental health
Every year, during the month of September, Brazil turns yellow for an essential cause: suicide prevention. The campaign, known as Yellow September, was initiated in 2015 by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry and other organizations. It encourages people to talk about mental health, remove stigmas surrounding the topic, and show that seeking help is important.
Mental health has become an increasingly important issue, especially after the global pandemic. More people are struggling with anxiety, depression, and emotional difficulties. Yellow September aims to remind everyone that it’s okay to seek support and that no one should feel alone in their struggles.
By promoting conversations about mental health, the campaign hopes to prevent suicides and save lives. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of empathy, understanding, and support. Remember: talking about mental health is a sign of strength, not weakness.
